The Breakfast Club is 40 years young today
Today is March 24, 2024. 40 years ago, 5 students were locked up for a day at Shermer High School to write an essay on Who They Are. During the day, the school princess 👸, athlete🏈, smart 🧠, weirdo 👜 and criminal ✊, get to know each other better and better and find out that they are all not so different.

It still remains one of my favorite films, not in the least because of the universe that director John Hughes crafted around the fictional town of Shermer, where the movie takes place. In the book Bratpack America, about high school movies of the 1980s, you can read about the Shermerverse:
The kids from Sixteen Candles probably knew Ferris Bueller, or at least the myth of him, from school. Roughneck Charlie Sheen from Ferris probably lived in the same scruffier part of Shermer as “criminal” Judd Nelson from The Breakfast Club.” (Kevin Smokler , Brat Pack America)
You can borrow the book Brat Pack America or watch the complete movie for free on the Internet Archive!
