Last week we bought some new furniture for our bedrooms, including new nightstands. The model we bought doesn’t stand beside the bed, but rather hangs on the wall. So I grabbed my drill, plugs, and screws and started drilling holes in the wall.

As I was working, I thought to myself, “I’ve seen some handy hacks online that would make this drilling job easier. I wonder where that was again?”

And I’ve had this thought many times before. When I’m cleaning the kitchen or fixing something in the bathroom, I’ll see helpful tips and tricks, but then I forget where I saved them or where to find them when I need them again.

But now I’ve figured out a simple solution: I’m going to create a simple document that I can keep adding to with links to these helpful tips and tricks. I can use Drafts, Obsidian, or Shortcuts, and I can add keywords to help me find the information quickly.

And that’s not all. I was also inspired by Rubenerd’s Lunchbox, a collection of handy and small scripts that he’s been keeping since 2014. I think it’s great that he’s shared his collection with others so that we can all benefit from it.

I’m not as tidy as Ruben, but I’m going to start keeping better track of the repair and maintenance hacks I find online. That way, I’ll always have them ready when I need them.

By the way, the new nightstands look beautiful on our bedroom wall. We’re very happy with them.
